In summertime, cows and sheep graze the 70 hectares of grassland. The monks own a flock of around forty ewes. Brothers in charge of the flock look after the animals, shearing them in spring, as well as maintaining the grassland and programming lambing before the holy week so that they can celebrate the Paschal mystery without excessive work. Cows, on the other hand, only graze around the monastery between spring and autumn. The monks keep an eye on the herd, maintain the fencing and provide water for the animals.
